Dunan (gaelic for Little Fort) is a small township situated along the shore line of Loch na Cairidh, a narrow stretch of water that separates the Island of Scalpay from Skye. The Skye Bridge connecting the Island to the mainland is 8 miles south of Dunan. The nearest main village is Broadford is 4 miles to the south and here you will find a supermarket, selection of shops, hotels, restaurants, a 24 hour petrol station and shop and a cottage hospital and modern medical centre. TRAVEL DIRECTIONS
From Portree take the A87 trunk road towards Broadford. After approximatley 17 miles you will enter the township of Dunan. Proceed along the A87 and you will see a gravel layby on the left hand side of the road (beside a corrugated shed and caravan), approx. 200 yards further along the road you will see a green postbox and cattle grid and this indicates the access road to the site. The site is the fenced area under grass to the left of the access track.
