The Island of Raasay has the Scottish mainland to the east and the Isle of Skye to the west and is accessed by a regular ferry service from Sconser on Skye, making access to Skye and the mainland straight forward with the ferry journey taking about 20 minutes. Facilities on Raasay include a village shop and post office, hotel, community centre and primary school. Portree the busy main settlement is some 14 miles north of the Sconser ferry terminal and here you will find all the shopping facilities you would expect of a thriving area, with services including secondary schooling, cottage hospital and doctor’s surgery. Raasay is very picturesque with beautiful luscious green woodland, breathtaking views and has places of historical interest, all of which are attractive to both locals and visitors alike. Wildlife can be seen in abundance and it would not be unusual to spot a golden or sea eagle whilst out on the many woodland or coastal walks.

From the ferry terminal follow the road and the old steading will be straight in front of you, turn right and follow the signs to Inverarish.
