Kylerhea is a small crofting village on the southern east coast of the Isle of Skye, overlooking Kyle Rhea, a strait splitting Skye from the mainland. Kylerhea is accessible from the A87 but a community owned ferry, the MV Glenachulish, links Kylerhea with Glenelg on the mainland and, running during the summer months, provides an alternative scenic and traditional route. Kylerhea is well known for it's otter haven which is popular with tourists and locals alike.

The larger village of Broadford is some 10 miles away and here you will find many facilities on offer including a supermarket, GP surgery, hospital, bars, cafes and hotels. Primary schooling is available in Broadford with secondary schooling available in Portree, some 37 miles to the North.


From the Skye Bridge follow the A87 onto the Island. After approximately 3 miles, take the left turn signposted Kylerhea and follow the road (single track) for7 miles. Carpenters Cottage is the next house after the white and blue house.
